The problem
A scan should not be a dead end. Sama’s existing retail app needed a way to continue when barcode scanning did not work, alongside fixes for delays and errors in everyday store workflows.
My contribution
Added manual barcode entry as a fallback to scanning.
Worked on latency in the existing app.
Fixed errors affecting everyday store workflows.
Working within a real product
I worked in the existing JavaScript, React Native, and Expo codebase, focusing on the barcode fallback, latency, and error fixes that supported everyday store work.
